Fulham eased into the Carabao Cup third round with a comfortable London derby win over AFC Wimbledon, giving Álvaro Arbeloa his first competitive victory as manager. Goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Rodrigo Muniz and late substitute Gonzalo García underlined the squad depth available to the new head coach and offered encouragement after Monday’s defeat by Chelsea.

Arbeloa made 10 changes, retaining only Oscar Bobb, while Wimbledon made six and initially threatened chiefly from set pieces. Smith Rowe scored from close range after James Tilley’s defensive header, Muniz headed in Kenny Tete’s cross for his first goal since the opening match of last season, and García added a deft stoppage-time finish.
