Murder-House Impostor Thriller ‘The Stand-In Family’ Wins Mirror Fiction Award at Taiwan Creative Content Fest

Iris Kong’s murder-house thriller, “The Stand-In Family” (provisional title), has won the NT$1 million Grand Prize in the fifth Mirror Fiction Award. The award, announced at Taiwan Creative Content Fest, is intended to encourage writers and connect promising stories with publishers, screen developers and investors.

The novel follows four strangers posing as a family in a house where a murder has occurred, while a property developer watches them and one confronts past wrongdoing. Malaysian writer Liang Xuan received the NT$700,000 Judges’ Award for “Endless Rain”; both winning works can be developed for publication and screen adaptation. The contest drew 529 submissions, and Mirror Fiction also presented five projects for its 2027 slate, including Kong’s novel.
