Sheffield singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Carrack has been honoured with his own star outside Sheffield Town Hall, presented by the city's Lord Mayor. The tribute recognises Carrack's decades-long career, during which he wrote and sang hits including The Living Years with Mike + The Mechanics and How Long with Ace, and joins him to fellow honourees on the Sheffield Legends Walk of Fame.

Carrack, 75, grew up in Crookes and taught himself drums and organ in his family's paint shop before turning to singing, releasing 19 studio albums across a career that saw him perform with Eric Clapton, Elton John and The Smiths. He also sang before a crowd of more than 500,000 as part of Roger Waters' The Wall Live in Berlin in 1990 and played in bands including Squeeze, joining previous Sheffield Legends honourees such as Pulp, Uriah Rennie, Danny Willett and Joe Root.
