My Morning Jacket and Modest Mouse have released new cover versions of Neil Young songs, previewing the next instalments of the charity tribute series Heart of Gold: The Songs of Neil Young. My Morning Jacket recorded "Like a Hurricane" live in New Orleans with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, while Modest Mouse teamed up with Califone on "Barstool Blues". The releases matter as they support The Bridge School, the organisation founded by Young and his former wife Pegi to help children with complex communication and physical disabilities.

The two singles will feature on Volume 2 ("Out of the Blue") and Volume 3 ("Into the Black") of the tribute project, both due out on 6th November via Cinema Music Group and Killphonic Records. The albums bring together a wide range of artists, including King Princess, LP, Lucinda Williams, MJ Lenderman, Ben Gibbard, Peter Frampton and Los Lobos, following an initial volume released in April 2025 that featured Eddie Vedder, Fiona Apple and Brandi Carlile among its 14 tracks. Modest Mouse are currently touring in support of the release.
