A wallaby has been spotted hopping through the streets of Liskeard, Cornwall, months after a similar sighting on a nearby industrial estate left locals baffled. Business owner Scott Weller initially mistook the animal for a dog while driving to work before realising it was a wallaby loose on a busy road, prompting him to slow down out of concern for its safety and that of other drivers. The recurring sightings have fuelled a local mystery, as a nearby zoo has confirmed all of its own wallabies are accounted for, leaving the animal's origin and ownership unexplained.

Mr Weller reported the sighting to police via the 101 non-emergency line, and Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they searched the Dean Street area shortly before 6am on 24 August but failed to locate the animal. The wallaby has also reportedly been seen elsewhere in the town, including on a secondary school's playing fields, and previously wandered around a Liskeard business park in an incident filmed by resident Neil Hardyman. The sightings echo an earlier case near Newquay in August 2024, when a wallaby was filmed crossing the A39 before later being found dead, having been struck by a car.
