Public attention has intensified around Shannon Murray, Gus Lamont’s grandmother, after she disappeared from public view following the four-year-old’s disappearance from Oak Park Station in South Australia. Her wife, Josie Murray, recently gave a televised interview at the property and repeated her belief that Gus was abducted, while Shannon was absent and not mentioned. The development has renewed questions about Shannon’s whereabouts and the family’s circumstances, although her lawyer says she is cooperating with police and has been advised not to appear in the media.

Gus vanished on 27 September last year while reportedly playing near a sand pile beside the homestead, about 300 kilometres north of Adelaide. Extensive searches have found no trace of him, and police said in February they believed someone known to him, possibly living at the station, may have killed him deliberately or accidentally. Josie has denied involvement, while Gus’s mother has left the station and appealed for anyone with information to come forward; Shannon was last publicly seen running errands in Jamestown on 11 November.
