The unidentified man who alerted a sleeping Las Vegas family to a house fire remains untraced, as the family appeal to find and thank him. They say his rapid intervention helped them escape the predawn blaze and may also have protected neighbouring residents.

The fire began shortly before 5am on 5 July. According to the family, the passer-by banged on their front door, shouted “Fire!” and used a garden hose to try to fight the flames before leaving without giving his name.
