The family of Yvonne Whear, a 73-year-old grandmother of 15, are speaking out as the six-month anniversary of her disappearance approaches, with her daughter voicing fears that she was abducted and harmed. Ms Whear was last seen driving in Murwillumbah, in far northern New South Wales, on 19 February 2026, after leaving a TAFE course and stopping at a service station en route to her hobby farm in nearby Dungay. Her case remains unsolved despite extensive searches, deepening the anguish of a family desperate for answers.

Items belonging to Ms Whear, including her boots, shirt and hat, were later found at the Dungay property, but she has not been seen since. Her gold-coloured Ford Escape wagon, bearing NSW registration EWS28P, has also not been located. The prolonged absence of any trace of the grandmother or her vehicle, despite significant search efforts, has fuelled her family's suspicion that foul play was involved.
