Nadiya Hussain shared a video supporting claims that Ed Sheeran’s emotional response to the Israel–Palestine controversy represented “white tears” and shifted attention towards his own distress. Sheeran had become embroiled in criticism after support act Macklemore was dropped from several US shows following complaints about his pro-Palestinian views.

During a Philadelphia concert, Sheeran apologised for how he had handled the dispute, described the situation in Gaza as “catastrophic and unjustifiable”, and condemned Hamas’s 7 October attacks. He said he was unsure whether the tour would continue, felt abandoned by family and friends, and admitted making mistakes; Hussain added no comment to the video, while the Mail said it had sought her response.
