Former dispatcher accuses Nantucket town manager of retaliation and intimidation
Former Nantucket public safety dispatcher Patrick Considine has filed a complaint with the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission, accusing Town Manager Elizabeth Gibson of using her authority to intimidate him and protect her husband, Deputy Police Chief Charles Gibson. The allegations stem from a dispute over grievances he and other dispatchers filed against police leadership, and raise questions about possible conflicts of interest.
Considine says dispatchers were passed over for paid traffic-detail work, then faced suspensions, retaliation and surveillance after filing grievances. He was fired one day after speaking at a Select Board hearing in April. He alleges Gibson replied directly to an email he had sent to other board members about a camera in the dispatch area, giving what he says was an inaccurate account of when it was installed; Gibson said the camera had been there since the building was constructed and that the issue was in litigation.
