Nationwide air traffic alert sparks three-letter joy for Trump
Palm Beach International Airport, located close to Donald Trump's Florida home, has been officially renamed President Donald J Trump International Airport. The change was confirmed by a Federal Aviation Administration alert stating that the airport's three-letter identifier would switch overnight from PBI to DJT, the President's initials. The renaming follows a law signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in March to honour the 45th and 47th President.
While the FAA code has changed to DJT, the airport will continue to use PBI for reservations, ticketing and baggage tags until 18 August, so passengers may wait before seeing the new initials on boarding passes. Eric Trump celebrated on X, noting that "Trump Force One" was the first plane to land at 5.01am on Thursday, with he and Donald Trump Jr posing on the tarmac. The airport handles nearly eight million travellers annually, and Palm Beach County commissioners approved a licensing deal allowing use of the trademarked Trump name.
