CBS has revealed a first look at NCIS: New York, its new procedural spin-off launching this October, in a set video showing LL COOL J's Sam Hanna alongside Scott Caan's new character, Nick Schaeffer. Notably, Caan's casting marks the first time in the 31-year history of the NCIS franchise that a role has been recast, since he previously played a version of a related character during a crossover with NCIS: Los Angeles when he starred as Danny Williams on Hawaii Five-0. The reveal comes as CBS prepares a big autumn schedule and as the wider NCIS universe sees other high-profile returns, including Mark Harmon in NCIS: Origins and Michael Weatherly in the flagship series.

NCIS: New York follows Hanna, more than three years after leaving NCIS: Los Angeles, as he leads a new team in his hometown of New York City. He is joined by Jennifer Beals as supervisor Robyn Wells, with the rest of the cast, including Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper and Devin Druid, confirmed earlier this month. The new footage, shared by José Pérez on Instagram, shows LL COOL J and Caan at a crime scene, alongside further images of the cast together, offering an early glimpse of the show's tone and chemistry ahead of its October premiere.
