Necrons are “extremely arrogant aliens that feel like they cannot die,” so their weakness in Dawn of War 4 is an obvious one: greed

Dawn of War 4’s Necrons are designed as highly durable, attrition-focused forces, but developer King Art Games has given them a major vulnerability: overexpansion. Their need to spread their territory can leave key infrastructure exposed, creating opportunities for opponents to disrupt an otherwise resilient faction and making multiplayer matches less static.

Rather than collecting resources from captured outposts, Necrons generate Dominion by extending their Power Matrix across the map, which also improves unit healing and armour on home territory. The cheapest expansion structure, the Convergence of Dominion, is unarmed and fragile, so rapid expansion without defences can be easily raided; a slower, fortified approach is safer but limits income and cedes map control. The system reflects Necron lore, as they regard entire planets as inherently theirs rather than competing over conventional resource sites.

  • Necron durability is balanced by vulnerable expansion infrastructure.
  • Rapid Power Matrix growth boosts forces but invites raids.
  • Cautious expansion sacrifices income and map control.
