Ned Collette – “Commandeered Parade”

Stereogum · 6 hours ago

Australian-born, Berlin-based singer-songwriter Ned Collette has released a video for "Commandeered Parade," the second track shared from his forthcoming eighth studio album, Mixed Light. The song follows lead single "Curious Thing" and continues Collette's long-running exploration of folk, jazz and avant-garde rock, placing him in the lineage of artists such as Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, with echoes of Bill Fay, Kurt Vile and Destroyer's Dan Bejar in his delivery.

Mixed Light is due out on 28th August via It Records and Feeding Tube, and is available to pre-order now. The album reportedly shifts between styles throughout, ranging from the gentler propulsion of its early singles to the chaos of "Paper Night" and a return to Collette's instrumental roots on closing track "Miami Shadows." Collette, who began his career in post-rock band City City City, has in recent years built close ties with Kentucky alt-Americana musicians including Ryan Davis and Will Oldham.
