Neil Young has announced ‘Second Song’, a new album with the Chrome Hearts, and released its title track ahead of the record’s arrival on 18 September via Reprise Records. The release follows 2025’s ‘Talkin To The Trees’ and continues Young’s recent period of writing that has combined political unease with more hopeful reflections on life, love and music.

The seven-track album contains five previously unreleased songs and new versions of ‘Casting Me Away From You’ and ‘I’ll Love You Forever’. Young has previously criticised Donald Trump in his music and public comments, but said recording with the Chrome Hearts has brought him joy; he recently cancelled his UK and European tour, explaining that he needed a break and was listening to his body.
