Neon Genesis Evangelion will join the Criterion Channel on 1 September, bringing Hideaki Anno’s influential anime series to the service alongside two related films. The arrival matters because it broadens access to a landmark work known for combining post-apocalyptic action with an intense examination of identity, trauma and human connection.

Criterion will stream all 26 episodes of the 1995–96 series, plus The End of Evangelion (1997) and Evangelion Death (True)² (1998), distributed in North America by GKIDS. The series will be offered both in Japanese and with the Classic English dub, marking the first time that dub has been available via streaming.
