Neon sticks it to A24 by announcing a Creative Commons SCP Foundation movie
Neon has announced its own SCP Foundation film after A24 faced criticism for revealing a planned adaptation without first contacting the SCP Wiki team or committing to the licence required by the project. Neon says it contacted the team and will release its film under the Creative Commons ShareAlike licence, addressing the community’s central concern.
The film is due in cinemas in 2027, but few other details have been shared. It is not an official SCP project: Wiki staff are not involved in making it, will receive no compensation and do not endorse adaptations. The licence also requires works based on SCP material to be shared under the same terms, which can make turning them into profitable films challenging.
- Neon pledges to follow the SCP Wiki’s ShareAlike licence.
- Its SCP film is planned for theatrical release in 2027.
- Wiki staff are not involved and do not endorse the project.
