Netflix has announced three new screen adaptations based on Sega properties: a live-action Crazy Taxi film, an animated Sonic the Hedgehog series aimed at younger viewers, and a live-action film based on Stranger Than Heaven, an unreleased game from Yakuza developer RGG Studio. The move deepens Netflix's push into video game adaptations and its existing relationship with Sega, building on the streamer's three-season Sonic Prime series.

The Crazy Taxi film, based on the 1999 arcade game and its upcoming 2027 sequel Crazy Taxi: World Tour, will be written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, the duo behind 2025's Naked Gun reboot, and is the first of the three projects to be released, though no date has been set. The new Sonic show, described by Netflix as having "a little edge" and "a little attitude", is being developed by Carlos Stevens and Toru Nakahara for an upper pre-school audience. Stranger Than Heaven, set in early 20th-century Japan and following a foreigner's rise within the yakuza and entertainment world, remains light on detail, with Netflix confirming only that a live-action film adaptation is in the works.
