Netflix Officially Revives 12-Year-Old Sci-Fi Series To Become a Massive Streaming Hit

Collider · 2 hours ago

Netflix has given a new lease of life to a 12-year-old sci-fi series, which has become a major streaming hit after being added to the platform in recent months. Although the show performed respectably during its original run on TNT around 15 years ago, it is now outperforming titles from across the globe on Netflix, joining a list of series such as Breaking Bad that found much wider audiences after moving to the streamer.

The Last Ship follows the crew of a US Navy destroyer left unaffected by a pandemic that wipes out most of the world's population, as they race to find a cure. Created by Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane and starring the late Eric Dane, it was executive-produced by Michael Bay at the height of his box-office success, following the billion-dollar hits Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Age of Extinction. The series originally ran for five seasons on TNT from 2014 to 2018 before finding renewed popularity on Netflix.
