Netflix Orders ‘Stranger Things’ Spinoff Series ‘Other Worlds’ Set in the 1950s

Netflix has ordered *Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure*, a live-action prequel to *Stranger Things*. Set in the 1950s, it will introduce a new story and cast, extending the hit series’ universe after its finale earlier this year.

The Duffer Brothers are co-creators, while longtime series writer Kate Trefry will lead the show and Joe Wright will direct its first three episodes. Production is planned in New Mexico. Plot details are being kept secret, though the creators’ “watch the skies” hint suggests a possible UFO or space theme. The original series has drawn 1.2 billion global views across its first four seasons.
