Netflix Reports Steady Viewing Time Growth But Scales Back Engagement Reports

The Hollywood Reporter · 1 month ago

Netflix reported that global viewing rose modestly to 97.7 billion hours in the first half of 2026, but said it will stop publishing its detailed engagement report twice a year. From 2027, the report will be released annually, allowing the company to keep quarterly earnings focused on revenue and operating profit while still publishing weekly top-10 rankings.

Viewing time was 2 per cent higher than in the first half of 2025 and slightly above the second half of 2025, continuing a pattern of gradual growth. ‘His & Hers’ was the most-viewed series with 104 million views, while ‘War Machine’ led films with 146.9 million views; viewing remained concentrated, with the top 200 titles accounting for roughly a third of activity in both series and films.

  • Netflix viewing reached 97.7 billion hours in early 2026.
  • Detailed engagement reports will become annual from 2027.
  • ‘His & Hers’ and ‘War Machine’ led Netflix’s charts.
