Netflix has confirmed that generative AI tools were used in roughly 300 of its titles during 2026, giving the clearest indication yet of how far the technology has spread across its production pipeline. The disclosure, made in the streamer's second-quarter shareholder letter, shows AI now playing a substantial role in its content output, with the company stating it is using such tools to deliver higher-quality work more quickly and cheaply than traditional production methods allow, particularly in post-production.

The largest concentration of AI use came in post-production work, and Netflix pointed to three productions — Glory (India), Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri (Brazil) and The American Experiment (US) — where generative AI helped create complex sequences. The move builds on Netflix's confirmation last July that it had used AI in at least one original show, and reflects a wider strategy of studio acquisitions and dedicated AI production units. The company maintains that human oversight remains necessary to ensure AI-generated material fits seamlessly with the rest of a film or series, even as it continues to expand its use of the technology.
