Netflix Sets The Witcher Season 5’s Fate

Netflix’s *The Witcher* season 5 has been delayed from its expected 2026 release to 2027, according to an August report. It will be the show’s final season, closing Geralt’s live-action story after a difficult fourth season and a change of lead actor.

Seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back-to-back and developed as one larger story, according to showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Liam Hemsworth took over as Geralt after Henry Cavill left in 2022; the series also stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.

The Witcher is a fantasy television series based on books by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. It follows Geralt, a monster hunter with supernatural abilities, as he travels through a world of rival kingdoms, magic and political conflict.

The show’s main characters include Geralt, the sorceress Yennefer, played by Anya Chalotra, and Ciri, played by Freya Allan. Liam Hemsworth took over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, who left the series after its third season.

The fourth and fifth seasons were made as a connected story, with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich as showrunner. The final season will bring the series’ live-action story of Geralt to a close.
