Netflix Snaps Up Iconic Turkish Drama ‘Fatmagül’ For Latin America
Netflix has acquired the Turkish drama Fatmagül for streaming across Latin America, where it will launch on 19 August. The deal underlines the continued international appeal of Turkish television dramas and gives a long-running series a new streaming audience in a region traditionally associated with telenovelas.
Produced by Ay Yapim and originally broadcast on Kanal D, Fatmagül follows a young woman from a poor family rebuilding her life after an assault and subsequent cover-up. The two-season, 80-episode series has been sold to more than 150 countries and remade in Spain and India; Netflix will offer Spanish- and Portuguese-dubbed versions, including in Brazil.
