Netflix To Add Dozens Of Classic Cantinflas Films, Teases More ‘Counterattack’
Netflix will add 35 classic films starring Mexican comedian and filmmaker Cantinflas to its platform, as part of programming marking Mexican Cinema Day. The move highlights Netflix’s broader investment in Mexican stories and could introduce the influential actor’s work to new audiences.
The Cantinflas collection, including Pepe, El padrecito and Romeo y Julieta, will be available from 1 September until the end of March 2027. Netflix also announced 35 Days, about a father entering rehabilitation, and said its 2025 action film Counterattack will receive multiple franchise expansions rather than a direct sequel or prequel.
