Netflix has announced Parasyte: TAMIYA, a new live-action spin-off from the Parasyte franchise, due in 2027. The series will focus on Ryoko Tamiya, a major antagonist from Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga, shifting attention towards an alien’s struggle for survival, identity and humanity.

The project reunites Parasyte: The Grey developer and co-writer Yeon Sang-ho with writer Ryu Yong-jae. The 2024 South Korean adaptation reached number one in 34 countries and holds a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes; however, a second season has not been confirmed. The original manga ran from 1988 to 1995 and has sold 25 million copies.
