Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho is reportedly returning for a second season, with filming expected to begin this autumn. The reported renewal matters because the new season would complete the story, but it may face criticism similar to the first season over compressing a large amount of source material into a limited runtime.

Tokyo Sports says the season will adapt through the final Demon World Unification Tournament arc, covering material equivalent to 46 anime episodes and 63 manga chapters. Takumi Kitamura is expected to return as Yusuke Urameshi, while Shun Oguri, Nobuaki Kaneko, Mirai Moriyama and Mizuki Yamamoto join as demon-world characters; Netflix has not independently confirmed the report.
