Netflix’s New 6-Part Romance Series Is Too Good To Miss for ‘Bridgerton’ Fans

Collider · 2 hours ago

Netflix has released "My Brilliant Career," a new six-episode period drama being positioned as an ideal watch for fans of "Bridgerton" during the wait for its fifth season. Though set in a different era and tone, the show shares key appeals with the Regency hit, including a headstrong heroine, a central romance and a soundtrack featuring anachronistic modern music.

Adapted from Miles Franklin's 1901 novel of the same name, the series follows aspiring writer Sybylla Melvyn (Philippa Northeast), who has no interest in marriage but is sent to live with her wealthy grandmother (Anna Chancellor) amid pressure to find a husband. There, she finds an ally in her suffragette neighbour Augusta Beecham (Kate Mulvany) while becoming entangled in a love triangle between two suitors, Frank Howden (Jake Dunn) and Harry (Christopher Chung), played out against a supporting cast including Genevieve O'Reilly and Sherry-Lee Watson.
