Netflix’s New Western Dethrones Harlan Coben’s Smash Hit Thriller
Netflix's new adaptation of Little House on the Prairie has overtaken Harlan Coben's crime thriller I Will Find You at the top of the streamer's global top ten chart, ending the latter's four-week run at number one. The Western drama, based on a book series previously adapted for television in the 1970s, has proved popular with critics as well as viewers, marking its first major win with reviewers since launching last week.
The eight-episode series drew 6.4 million views in its first few days and is expected to perform even more strongly in its second week once Netflix's full weekly tally is released. It debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with an 88% critics' score, since eased slightly to 80%, with reviewers praising its balance of nostalgia and fresh storytelling. Its audience score has been more turbulent, dropping to 59% amid early "anti-woke" review-bombing before recovering to 69%. I Will Find You, meanwhile, has slipped to second place on Netflix's chart but is still considered to have strong staying power after five weeks on the platform.
