Netflix has announced that filming has wrapped on "Scooby-Doo: Origins," its live-action reimagining of the classic mystery-solving franchise, ahead of a global release on the streaming service in 2027. The series recasts the familiar Mystery Inc. gang as teenagers spending their final summer at camp, where old friends Shaggy and Daphne are drawn into a supernatural mystery involving an abandoned Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a murder.

The show was shot in Atlanta, joining other Netflix productions such as "Stranger Things" filmed in the state, and stars McKenna Grace as Daphne, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred, alongside a supporting cast including Paul Walter Hauser, Sara Gilbert and Bruce McGill. Notably, Scooby-Doo himself will be portrayed by a real Great Dane for the first time in the franchise's history. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serve as showrunners and writers, with Greg Berlanti among the executive producers via his overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
