Netflix has released a new Western limited series that has quickly become a global streaming success, reaching the top five most-watched shows on the platform worldwide just a day after its debut. The launch continues Netflix's ongoing effort to capture the audience built by Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone — a franchise the streamer famously passed on — through a string of rival Western titles. The early traction matters because Netflix's previous attempts in the genre have delivered mixed results, making an immediate hit a notable win.

The series opened to mostly positive reviews and currently holds a 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Collider's Maggie Lovitt describing it as a "must-watch masterpiece" that builds "a fully realised world that feels tactile and familiar." On its debut day, the overall Netflix leaderboard was topped by the holdover hit I Will Find You, according to FlixPatrol. The show has already been renewed for a second season, following Netflix's earlier Western efforts such as Ransom Canyon, The Waterfront and the limited series American Primeval, which were offered as alternatives to Yellowstone spin-offs including 1883 and 1923.
