Netflix’s ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Will Officially Not Return in 2026
Netflix has confirmed that The Lincoln Lawyer’s fifth season will not arrive until 2027, despite filming having wrapped in July. The delay means viewers will wait longer for the next chapter, which will also be the legal thriller’s final season.
Season 5 was renewed before Season 4 premiered, but Netflix later confirmed it would end the series. The final season will adapt Michael Connelly’s 2023 novel Resurrection Walk and continue from the revelation that Mickey Haller has a half-sister, Emi Finch. Cobie Smulders is due to reprise her role as Emi, and Netflix is developing a spin-off centred on her character.
In short
- The final season is due in 2027.
- Filming wrapped in July.
- Netflix is developing an Emi Finch spin-off.
Explained simply
The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal drama based on novels by Michael Connelly. It follows Los Angeles defence lawyer Mickey Haller, who works from a car and represents people accused of crimes.
The story also centres on Haller’s family and colleagues, including his newly revealed half-sister, Emi Finch, played by Cobie Smulders. Connelly’s novels provide the source material for the series, and one of them is set to shape its planned final season.
The series has built an audience through its courtroom cases and continuing character storylines. Emi’s role is also the basis for a spin-off in development, extending the fictional world beyond Haller’s story.
