New ‘Alien’ Movie in the Works with Writer Aaron Guzikowski (Exclusive)
Aaron Guzikowski has been hired to write a new, still-secret Alien film for 20th Century Studios, with Ridley Scott producing. The project adds a new strand to the franchise and is linked to Scott’s Prometheus and Alien: Covenant films, rather than to 2024’s Alien: Romulus.
Scott is not directing, no director is attached, and Michael Fassbender has not joined the project. Sources say the story’s connection to the earlier films is the amoral android Fassbender played. Guzikowski previously wrote Prisoners and created Raised by Wolves, which Scott executive produced and partly directed.
In short
- Aaron Guzikowski will write a new Alien film.
- Ridley Scott is producing, but not directing.
- The story is linked to Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
Explained simply
Alien is a science-fiction horror series about encounters between humans and a deadly alien species. The original 1979 film was directed by Ridley Scott, who later returned to the series with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, films that explored its origins and the android David, played by Michael Fassbender.
The franchise has since branched into stories set at different points in its timeline, including Alien: Romulus, released in 2024. Aaron Guzikowski, who wrote the crime drama Prisoners and created the science-fiction series Raised by Wolves, has also worked with Scott on that series.
