An investigation has been launched after 18 migrants arrived undetected at a Cornish harbour and disappeared into the night. Two Albanian men were arrested at Mylor harbour near Falmouth in the early hours of Sunday 27 September, but the majority of those who arrived by yacht managed to flee the scene. This incident is part of a concerning pattern of undetected migrant landings along the UK's south coast, raising serious questions about Border Force effectiveness and coastal security.

The migrants are believed to have exited the yacht, entered a waiting van, and left the area before police arrived. This follows similar undetected arrivals last week, including seven migrants near Folkestone and up to 30 at Samphire Hoe between Dover and Folkestone. A Border Force union representative warned that undetected landings are occurring along the entire south coast, with authorities unable to monitor all activity. The incidents come as three migrants, including a 10-year-old child, died during a separate Channel crossing when their dinghy encountered difficulty; French rescue services recovered 105 people from that vessel. A Cabinet minister recently acknowledged that the Government "can't stop everything all of the time," highlighting the scale of the challenge facing authorities.
