Multiverse has introduced an AI system that analyses transcripts of online lessons and flags teachers’ work for managers, prompting instructors to report feeling constantly watched and under severe stress. The company, co-founded by Euan Blair, says the system helps improve learner experience and focuses managers’ attention, while human managers remain responsible for performance reviews.

The system monitors teachers for several hours a day, compared with monthly observations by a manager previously. It assigns a risk status and confidence score, and can flag issues such as slow responses to connection problems, frequent filler phrases, vague answers or learners not contributing. Some teachers say the monitoring has affected their sleep and led them to seek therapy; Multiverse did not directly address those complaints.
