New ‘Come to Brasil’ Documentary Celebrates the Power of Brazilian Music Fans

Billboard · 2 hours ago

A new 22-minute documentary, *Come to Brasil*, examines the enthusiasm and influence of Brazilian music fans behind the widely used online phrase. Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, it argues that these fan communities have become important participants in artists’ relationships with audiences and in global pop culture.

The film follows four superfans and features communities centred on artists including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Madonna. Director Lina Abascal said she aimed to move beyond stereotypes of fandom—often involving women and LGBTQIA+ people—by portraying fans’ humanity, creativity and organising power; the project is a US-Brazilian co-production presented with several documentary partners.
