A new subscription streaming service called DocuStream dedicated exclusively to documentaries will launch on 15 October on Amazon Prime. Founded by David DiVona and backed by industry veterans including former executives from Viacom, Showtime, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the platform aims to address a gap in the market where documentary content lacks a dedicated destination. The service reflects growing demand for nonfiction storytelling, with DiVona stating that whilst documentaries have become increasingly popular, viewers previously lacked a single, specialised place to discover them.

DocuStream will debut with over 2,000 titles spanning Hollywood, music, pop culture, true crime, biography, sports, history, business and unexplained phenomena, including documentaries about Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Anthony Bourdain and Elon Musk. Subscriptions will cost $4.99 (approximately £4) per month, and the platform will initially be available through Amazon Prime Video before expanding to Roku, Tubi and Samsung later. The service features a substantial collection of exclusive original programming alongside its existing archive.
