God of War Laufey has now been dated for release on PlayStation 5 on 16 February 2027, while Santa Monica Studio has confirmed a further Kratos-led game will follow it. The Comic-Con announcement matters because it establishes Kratos’ continued role in the franchise after Laufey’s standalone adventure, though the next game’s release date and setting remain undisclosed.

Creative head Cory Barlog said the future Kratos game will tie directly into Laufey’s events but provided no further plot details. Laufey follows Faye in the Everywhen, where she tries to protect Kratos and Atreus; its material suggests the series could move beyond Greek and Norse mythology, while Kratos’ latest mainline outing was 2022’s God of War Ragnarök.
