The BBC has released The Rapture, a new psychological thriller adapted from Liz Jensen's bestselling novel, with star Iwan Rheon saying its heatwave setting feels especially relevant given current climate trends. Rheon, best known for Game of Thrones, told BBC Radio Wales that although the drama is set during a scorching heatwave, filming took place in south Wales last autumn in far cooler, "changeable" conditions, requiring make-up artists to use moisturiser to simulate sweat.

The series follows forensic psychologist Dr Gabriele Fox, played by Ruth Madeley, as she investigates 17-year-old Bethany Krall, played by India Amarteifio, who was convicted of murdering her mother but claims innocence and says she has psychic powers to predict the future. The cast also includes Gavin and Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones, and the show was produced by Mammoth Screen for BBC iPlayer and BBC One with backing from the Welsh government's Creative Wales fund. Rheon, who grew up in Cardiff, is currently working on two other Welsh productions, Out There alongside Michael Sheen and Mountain on Anglesey, and praised Wales's growing creative industry infrastructure.
