Warner Bros has unveiled the first set images from "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum", revealing the return of beloved cast members from Peter Jackson's original films. The photographs confirm that the studio is proceeding with this new Middle-earth cinematic venture, which centres on Gollum's perspective within the franchise's established timeline.

The film, directed by and starring Andy Serkis as Gollum, is set between "The Hobbit" and the original trilogy and follows Aragorn (Jamie Dornan) as he searches for Gollum to prevent him revealing the ring's location to Sauron's forces. The cast includes returning stars Elijah Wood as Frodo, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, and Lee Pace as Thranduil, alongside notable newcomers including Kate Winslet, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Leo Woodall. Production commenced in New Zealand in July, with the film scheduled for theatrical release on 17 December 2027.
