New Radicals Quietly Release First New Song In 28 Years

Stereogum · 2 hours ago

New Radicals have released “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!)”, their first newly recorded song credited to the band since their 1998 debut album. The release marks a rare return for Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois, whose band had effectively ended after one album but retained a lasting pop-cultural profile through “You Get What You Give” and Alexander’s later songwriting work.

The song was co-written and performed by Alexander, Brisebois and Nick Lashley, and serves as the theme for the forthcoming romantic comedy One Night Only, starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner. New Radicals briefly reunited in 2021 for Joe Biden’s virtual inauguration parade, while Alexander has recently issued his own versions of songs he co-wrote, including “Murder On The Dancefloor” and “The Game Of Love”; the film soundtrack also features King Princess and Este Haim.
