Samsung will begin rolling out HDR10+ Advanced, an updated version of the HDR10+ image format it co-developed, from this month on its 2026 TV lineup. The first content to support the format will stream via Prime Video, marking the technology's initial real-world deployment after Samsung unveiled it last November and demonstrated it on new TVs at CES in January.

The update centres on two headline features: Enhanced Overall Brightness, which draws on extended statistical metadata and AI-powered tone mapping to sharpen brightness and shadow detail across the full tonal range, and Intelligent Motion Smoothing, which uses scene-by-scene metadata to let compatible sets dynamically adjust motion processing. Only Samsung's newest 2026 TVs will support HDR10+ Advanced at launch, with Prime Video so far the only confirmed streaming partner offering compatible shows and films.
