Shadows Fall guitarist Jonathan Donais has said the band’s long-awaited new album is complete, with release planning now dependent on timing and members’ schedules. The record would be the Massachusetts metal band’s first full-length studio album since 2012’s Fire From The Sky, and is tentatively expected in 2027.

Donais said he wrote the material by revisiting the thrash and 1990s death metal that inspired him to form the band, aiming to recapture its early energy. He said new songs emerged unexpectedly while the group rehearsed for its 2021 reunion show, after a six-year hiatus; the band has since issued the singles “In The Grey” in December 2024 and “Souls Devoured” in May 2025 through MNRK Heavy.
