Rough Trade Records will release a box set featuring a previously unissued Smiths single on the label, despite the song itself having been released elsewhere before. The inclusion is notable because it gives ‘The Headmaster Ritual’ its first official Rough Trade single release, with new artwork overseen by Morrissey.

Due on 30 October, the set contains nine seven-inch singles spanning the 1980s to early 1990s, selected by Rough Trade co-managing directors Jeannette Lee and Geoff Travis. The Smiths record pairs ‘The Headmaster Ritual’ with ‘I Want The One I Can’t Have’, while other artists include The Fall, Scritti Politti, Robert Wyatt, Aztec Camera, Mazzy Star and The Sundays; the package also includes sleeve notes and a new interview with Lee and Travis.
