New York Film Festival’s Currents section unveils Bardi centrepiece

Film at Lincoln Center has announced the Currents programme for the 64th New York Film Festival, presenting experimental and international films, shorts and restorations. Tala Hadid’s “Bardi”, centred on Morocco’s centuries-old Tbourida equestrian ritual, is the section’s Centrepiece and will receive its world premiere, reflecting Currents’ emphasis on films that push formal boundaries.
The line-up includes world premieres of Carlos Reygadas’ “Heil Jupiter!”, Tiffany Sia’s “Overt Listening”, Éric Baudelaire’s “For the Moon” and Dan Sallitt’s “What Can’t Be Mentioned”. Other selections include Beatrice Gibson’s “At Night”, Bruno Dumont’s “Red Rocks”, John Torres’ “The Remotes”, a new restoration of Fred Camper’s late-1970s “Suicide Notes”, and Mariano Llinás’s 330-minute “Life of Jorge Borges”, alongside shorts by emerging filmmakers.
