Catastrophic flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa border region have left at least 332 people dead and more than 1,300 missing, including at least 65 Americans. Among those unaccounted for are retired New York couple Ramesh and Neelam Sharma, who were travelling on a religious pilgrimage and were reportedly delayed near the Tibetan border shortly before the disaster.

Officials believe a major glacial collapse sent ice, rock and more than 20 million cubic metres of water down the Trishuli River, destroying villages and infrastructure in the Langtang area. Communications failures are hampering rescue efforts; 27 foreign nationals, including two Americans, have reportedly been rescued, while authorities also warn that a landslide dam could breach and cause further flooding.
