New Zealand great Tui joins Trailfinders
New Zealand rugby star Ruby Tui has signed a one-year deal with Trailfinders Women, joining last season's Premiership Women's Rugby finalists. The 34-year-old brings elite pedigree to the English club, having won the 2021 Rugby World Cup with New Zealand and collected Olympic gold and silver medals in sevens rugby, making her one of the most decorated and recognisable figures in the women's game.
Head coach Barney Maddison said Tui's winning experience and leadership would be a major asset as the club builds on last season's success, while Tui praised the Premiership as the "biggest and best" women's competition in the world. She was also named World Rugby's women's sevens player of the year in 2019 and played a key role in New Zealand's dramatic 34-31 win over England in the 2021 World Cup final.
