Newcastle’s Dedic stopped by police after being spotted with bow and arrows
Newcastle United defender Amar Dedic was stopped by police after a member of the public reported seeing him and a friend carrying a bow and arrows at a Northumberland beauty spot. Police seized the equipment but said it was understood to be for recreational use and that the men posed no threat to the public.
The incident took place on Wednesday, two days after Dedic played in Newcastle’s 1-0 defeat by Everton. Reports say six police cars, including armed officers, attended, and the vehicle was stopped about seven miles from where the men were first seen. Dedic, 24, joined Newcastle from Benfica in August for a reported fee of about £30m; police enquiries are ongoing, and the club has not commented.
