Deadline ·

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) has partnered with Argentina’s Mar del Plata International Film Festival, bringing eight short films by NFMLA alumni to the festival in November. The collaboration also includes an industry panel on how festivals, markets and creative organisations can help emerging storytellers build sustainable careers.

The films will be shown in a special out-of-competition event on 8 November, with filmmaker question-and-answer sessions. The selection spans comedy, drama and horror, and includes works by Brazilian, Mexican, Korean-American, Venezuelan and US-based filmmakers. The partnership follows NFMLA executive director Larry Laboe’s role as a jury member at the 2025 festival and was formally signed with Argentina’s National Film Board.
