NFL Hall of Famer Edgerrin James has made a public appeal for support for his 21-year-old son, Jizzle James, who he says is struggling with substance abuse. The former Indianapolis Colts running back posted an Instagram Story asking anyone who encounters his son to show him kindness rather than give him money or valuables, warning that doing so would only feed the problem. The plea highlights the personal toll behind Jizzle's recent turbulent departure from college basketball.

Edgerrin James said his son's material needs are being met and urged people to instead offer "love", "encouragement" and patience, stressing the family is "fighting for him, not against him". The appeal follows a difficult stretch for Jizzle, who was dismissed and later reinstated by Cincinnati's basketball programme last season, before transferring to Charlotte to join former Cincinnati coach Wes Miller. Charlotte has since confirmed Jizzle is no longer with the team, citing personal issues, and he previously received a cease-and-desist letter from Cincinnati over unauthorised use of its branding.
